潘妮拉·奥古斯特

Pernilla August started acting as a child, performing in plays at Vår teater and at school. In 1979 she was accepted at the Statens scenskola to study acting professionally. Director 英格玛·伯格曼 took note of her early and cast her as a nanny in his 芬妮与亚历山大 (1982).

In 1982 she got married to author Klas Östergren and started work at the Folkteatern in Gävle, appearing in 奥古斯特·斯特林堡's A Dreamplay and 契诃夫's Three Sisters. She returned a few years later to the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm for roles in 莎士比亚's Hamlet and 易卜生's A Doll's House (as Nora).

Until then she hadn't had any bigger experience of television or movies but 英格玛·伯格曼 specifically asked for her to play his mother in the biographical 善意的背叛 (1992) By then her marriage was over and she started a relationship with director 比利·奥古斯特 whom she married in 1991 - and had her name changed for the second time. He offered her a role in his 金色豪门 (1993), but due to her pregnancy the role went to 薇诺娜·瑞德 instead.

She has admirably managed an international career despite having three daughters. She is best known for her appearances in films like 星球大战前传1：幽灵的威胁 (1999) or 我是迪娜 (2002).

Three daughters: Agnes, Asta and Alba.

Portrayed Shmi Skywalker (mother of Anakin Skywalker) and Mary of Nazareth (mother of Jesus Christ). Both are women who claim their sons were the product of a virgin birth.

She was awarded the 1987 London Critics Circle Theatre Award (Drama Theatre) for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Hamlet.

Shares the role of Mary, mother of Jesus, with 凯莎·卡斯特, and like her, has appeared in the Star Wars prequels.

Shmi Skywalker was her first English-speaking role, and at first she was reluctant to take it, fearing audiences would not be able to understand her English very well. 乔治·卢卡斯 assured her that it would be fine, and joked that Shmi came from a Swedish-speaking part of the galaxy. This turned out to be strangely appropriate, as her on-screen son 海登·克里斯滕森 and grandson 马克·哈米尔 both have Swedish ancestry as well.
